Idle Women win People’s Project!
In April 2019, Idle Women was awarded £50,000 towards Mud to Medicine, as one of the winners of The People’s Project, a partnership between The National Lottery Community Fund, The National Lottery and ITV, which gives the public a say in how funding should be put to good use in their local area.
Mud to Medicine will provide opportunities for women to get actively involved in creating a dedicated medicinal herb garden in East Lancashire for women’s creativity, health and wellbeing.
The project will create a fully accessible medicine garden designed and co-created entirely by women. Women will learn practical skills in design and landscaping to create an entire garden from medicinal plants that support physical and mental health and wellbeing. By providing a safe outdoor space, individuals are given the chance to relax, create friendships, meet as individuals and belong to a community.
The campaign was led by Idle Women sisterhood, an integral team of local volunteers, we want to say deepest thanks for all who voted for Idle Women and helped spread the word, You did it!
